The festivities will begin on the Courthouse Square Bandstand at noon with the polka stylings of Barefoot Becky and the Ivanhoe Dutchmen.  The group has been performing throughout the United States since 1988 and has just released their eighth CD.  Their annual polka festival, the Beckster Fest, is held in Amana, Iowa the weekend after Memorial Day.

Wanna get out of the sun?  Relax and have a laugh?  Don’t miss the stand-up comedy of Big City Feed Store at the historic Wieting Theatre.  That’s Tim the Dairy Farmer, BC Murphy and Danny McArthur... three comics bringing wholesome humor to Tama-Toledo and RAGBRAI.  We’re trying to milk their contract for two shows at the Wieting... tentative times are 1 PM and 6 PM.
Karaoke
will follow Barefoot Becky from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on the Bandstand.
Up-and-coming young artists Stanwood Charlie will kickoff the Main Stage activities at 3:00 p.m.

The recent Brett Michaels’ (former lead singer of Poison) - Battle of the Bands winners beat out 16 other competitors earning the honor to open for Michaels at his Beach Bash in Clearwater Beach.  Stanwood Charlie is a five-man
“ska-influenced” rock band that originated in the South Tama communities.  Their 2nd Annual Chuckfest in July will double as a CD release party.

Tama-Toledo’s own 3rd Street Band brings their rockabilly style to RAGBRAI with a 4:00 pm performance.  Don’t be fooled by this three-piece band as they mix 60+ combined years experience with precise instrumentation.

Native American dancers from the local Meskwaki Tribe will perform on the Courthouse Lawn beginning at 5:00 p.m.   Their ceremonial dances, both social and religious, include dancers and singers from many generations.  The Meskwaki Settlement near Tama hosts the only Native American Pow Wow of it’s kind in Iowa each August.
Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers are a professional Native American dance troupe based out of Minnesota.  The Troupe has danced at events across the United States as well as on the streets of Dublin, Ireland and worldwide.  Yazzie, who was raised on the Meskwaki Settlement near Tama, and his son Jessup, also danced in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In November the Dancers will travel to Washington, DC to dance at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. They will dance immediately following the Meskwaki dancers.

The legendary classic rock sound of Dogs On Skis will get the evening Moovin’ and Groovin’ back on the Main Stage at 6:00 p.m.  For 21 years Dogs On Skis has entertained Central Iowa at club shows, concerts and street dances.  The accomplished musicians are known for their vocal harmonies and several members hail from the Tama-Toledo area.

“Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe” will perform together again at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Stage.  Ronny Craig and Amy Heart first teamed up for a performance in 2003 for Toledo’s Sesquicentennial celebration.

Craig, a former Tama-Toledo resident has brought Elvis to the area many times.  He has performed throughout the United States and hosts Elvis Explosion each year in Wisconsin to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

Heart is a South Tama alumni who began impersonating Marilyn in 2001.  She has performed at events nationwide as well as on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Headlining Tama-Toledo’s RAGBRAI entertainment are the KC AllStars.  From R&B to swing and jazz, country to top 40 hits and dance tunes, the KC AllStars are popular with all generations.  Based in the Kansas City area, the KC AllStars bring in a party atmosphere for the riders.  They have performed at Arrowhead Stadium for the Kansas City Chiefs, at the Kansas Speedway (NASCAR) as well as for numerous KC area corporate and public functions and charity events.  The performance begins at 9:30 p.m.

Butter Cow Central will be an educational and entertaining venue for city and country folks alike.  The Midwest Dairy Association will be a sponsor for this farm and dairy based experience that will feature national celebrity and Toledo resident Norma “Duffy” Lyon, former Butter Cow sculptor, along with Sarah (Doyle) Pratt, (South Tama alumnus) current Iowa State Fair Butter Cow artist.  Butter Cow Central will be located south of the Courthouse Square near the former Toledo Fire House – which is now on the National Register of Historic Places and a private residence.

We want to see you Moovin’ and Groovin’ in Iowa’s Twin Cities at our RAGBRAI celebration… top-notch professional entertainment with that local hometown feel July 23, 2008 in Tama-Toledo!
